Curriculum（カリキュラム）
Students motivation and self-learning is being promoted by the curriculum. Within two years students should be aware of and able to utilize effective self-study techniques for advancing their ability in English. The second aim is to develop students’ sense of confidence in studying English through enhancing their sense of achievement. This is done both through dealing successfully with failure and by attaining successful experiences. Together, these promote independent learning.
These aims are met through a focus on the 5 skills, as well as by focusing on topics through English, rather than merely on the language itself.
Student-centered classroom management and teaching are the fundamental idea of teaching in the department. Wherever possible, all classes should adhere to these principles.
1st Spring（1年春学期）
You will learn basic English language skills such as speaking, reading, writing, listening, vocabulary, and grammar through education, business, tourism, and general contents. However, A group （high level） students will focus more on developing academic skills through academic contents to prepare them for TOEFL® test. Also you will learn basic study skills and computer skills. To develop your self-confidence, motivation, critical thinking, independent learning, and sense of cooperation, you will do many active learning activities. To provide you with more chances to use English, you will DO EVERYTHING IN ENGLISH. All of these will prepare you for STUDY ABROAD in the fall semester.

1st Fall（1年秋学期）
So that you will not forget what you will learn in the spring semester, you will have more opportunities to use it here. You will continue the general, tourism, education, and business contents, and you will have more active learning tasks to do. Low level students who will perform very well in the spring semester will be able to go up to A group, and those high level students who will not do their best will go down to low group. Here, too, you will DO EVERYTHING IN ENGLISH.

2nd Spring（2年春学期）
Whether you belong to high level or low level group, we know you will be able to acquire the basic skills in your first year, so the courses here will focus more on developing your confidence to speak in English. Therefore, you will have more presentations to do in English. Also, the skills, contents and activities will be more demanding but interesting. All of these will prepare you for the Poster Presentations, overseas study and internship. Like in first year, EVERYTHING WILL BE IN ENGLISH.

If you will have more presentations and learning of skills and contents, and demanding training in the 2nd year spring semester, you will have a lot of presentations and other active tasks to do here. However, the activities will be more enjoyable and fun. At this time, you will have all the important skills, knowledge, confidence and motivation which will help you to do internship in Japan or overseas. These skills, knowledge, confidence and motivation, too, will prepare you for job hunting, Here, too, EVERYTHING WILL BE IN ENGLISH.

You will have less English and elective subjects here. This is because we would like you to prepare for your graduation thesis and other requirements for graduation. Also you will have more time for job interviews. This is also the time when it is good to do internship in other countries for a short period of time or for one year.
