Kansai University of International Studies Basic Policy for Supporting Students with Disabilities

In accordance with the "Guidelines for Promoting the Elimination of Discrimination on the Basis of Disability in Projects Under the Jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology" (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Notification No. 28, 4) established based on Article 1, Paragraph 25 of the "Act on Promotion of Elimination of Discrimination on the Basis of Disability" (Act No. 65 of 11), which came into effect on April 1, 27, we have established the following basic policy.Regarding the notation of "disabled", we will unify the notation of "disabled" from the viewpoint of carefully supporting each person.

  • Philosophy / Goal
    Since its founding, Hamana Yamate Gakuin has developed with the spirit of "I love the garden".Kansai University of International Studies (hereafter referred to as "this university") makes use of this spirit and aims to "cultivate human beings who understand the position of each person on the earth and walk together with them."We provide support according to the abilities and aptitudes of all students so that each and every student can lead a fulfilling university life and grow, regardless of whether or not they have a disability.
  • Target
    A student with a disability is a person who has a physical disability, intellectual disability, mental disability (including developmental disability), or other physical or mental disability (including disability caused by an intractable disease), and who is in a state of having considerable restrictions on daily life or social life due to a disability or social barrier.In addition, it is not limited to the holder of the disability certificate.
  • Securing learning opportunities
    We will strive to secure learning opportunities so that students with disabilities enrolled at our university can receive the same education as students without disabilities.
  • Improvement of study environment
    We will consider making the campus barrier-free so that students with disabilities can safely and smoothly participate in educational activities at our university.
  • Disclosure
    We will strive to actively disclose information about our stance and policies for accepting students with disabilities, as well as the barrier-free situation on campus.
  • Determining details and method of academic support
    We will endeavor to adjust study support for students with disabilities (including applicants for admission to our university) based on the needs of the student concerned.
  • Support system
    We will set up a contact point in the Student Affairs Division, and all related departments will work closely together to provide support, and strive to promote learning support for students with disabilities.
  • Educational methods, etc.
    We will support participation in classes, etc. by ensuring information about university life, consideration for communication during classes, etc., and strive to give consideration to fair examinations and grade evaluations.
  • Promoting understanding of disabilities
    In addition to deepening the understanding of faculty, staff and students about disabilities, we will strive to promote understanding of disabilities and support by raising awareness of support for people with disabilities so that we can respond more appropriately.
