| Location information | Surabaya is located on the eastern coast of Java Island. It is Indonesia's second largest city and the capital of East Java Province. It is about an hour and 2 minute flight from the capital, Jakarta. It has long flourished as a trading hub, and even today has one of Indonesia's leading ports. Many Japanese companies have set up operations here, and there are many Chinese and Arab residents, with a Chinatown and an Arab town.
