1. Graduation Accreditation Policy (Diploma Policy)

In the Department of Global Communication (hereinafter referred to as "this department"), students who have completed the course of this university, have earned 126 credits and fulfilled the compulsory requirements, have the English proficiency that can be used in international communication situations, and have knowledge of international regional culture or business A bachelor's degree (English Studies) will be awarded to individuals who can play an active role globally while comprehensively utilizing knowledge, an international perspective, and the following six strengths and qualities.

Able to proactively make plans, implement them, and work on them while reflecting on them.

(2) Attitude to actively contribute to society (social contribution)
Contribute to society and groups, and contribute to more people collaborating and participating with others.

(3) Ability to understand and accept diverse cultures and their backgrounds (diversity understanding)
Respect people who have different ways of thinking and values ​​than you, and act while accepting various diversity such as region, race, and religion.

Understand various social and cultural phenomena from a scientific point of view, and be able to propose solutions based on evidence.

2.Curriculum Policy (Curriculum Policy)

1) Education content

The curriculum of this department consists of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects, classified according to subject content, and organized so that students can learn step by step from basic to applied.
In order to clarify the gradual organization of courses, all courses are numbered with symbols and numbers that express the content and degree of difficulty, and the curriculum system and the priority of courses are clearly indicated.
The contents of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects are as follows.

(1) Basic education subjects

In basic education courses, students acquire the education and skills that form the foundation for leading a fulfilling and active life.Fundamental education subjects are organized mainly for lower grades, and learn the following contents.

  • You will learn the knowledge necessary for studying at university, such as how to write reports and think critically.
  • Students will think about the issues they face in their lives on the themes of human beings, society, and science, and acquire an education.
  • Acquire the language, ICT (Information and Communication Technology), and sports skills necessary for a global society.
  • Acquire the knowledge and skills related to data science required in a society where DX is progressing.
  • Acquire an attitude of understanding and cooperating with different cultures.
  • Cultivate career formation with an eye on the course after graduation.
(2) Specialized Education Subjects

In specialized education subjects, students learn knowledge and methods for understanding and acting from an international perspective, focusing on the Asia-Pacific region, while strengthening English as a communication tool.

  • In the 1st and 2nd years, we will develop English proficiency and solidify the foundation of the four skills. We aim to achieve a TOEIC score of 4 at the end of the first year (study abroad condition) and a TOEIC score of 1 at the end of the second year, and improve your English skills step by step.
  • At the end of the first year, the major will be decided in consideration of the student's wishes and aptitude.This department has the following two majors.

1) Department of International and Regional Studies
Students will learn information and knowledge to play an active role in the international community while understanding various cultural and social backgrounds.

2) Business Communication Major
You will learn the knowledge and education necessary to be practically active in international business settings.

  • From the second year onwards, the courses to be taken are determined for each major.By taking courses in a major, students will systematically study subjects that are in line with the educational objectives of that major.
  • In the fall semester of the second year, common to both majors, students will take "Global Research", in which they will study abroad at an overseas partner university for at least one semester.
  • From the third year onwards, students take courses to further develop the specialized content they have learned up to that point.
  • If you wish, you can take courses to obtain a junior high and high school teaching license and a certificate of completion for Japanese teacher training.

2) Teaching methods

Incorporating the perspective of active learning, we practice educational methods that enable students to learn actively.The main methods are as follows.

(1) Adopt learning methods that emphasize group work, etc.
Group work, pair work, and discussion are also used in lecture-style classes in the classroom.Through these methods, students will work together to deepen their learning independently and actively.

(2) Monitor English proficiency
With the goal of achieving a TOEIC score of 1 or higher by the end of the first year and a TOEIC score of 450 or higher (CEFR-B2 level) by the end of the second year, students will take courses according to their level.

(3) Incorporate experiential learning to develop problem-finding and problem-solving skills
We will set opportunities for experiential learning such as subject research (global research), service learning, and internships.By discovering problems in the real world and proposing solutions to problems using knowledge and skills, students will make use of their experiences in their next learning.

(4) Evaluation feedback will be provided during and at the end of the semester
Evaluations will be conducted multiple times throughout the term and throughout the term.All graded reports and attempts will be returned to the student whenever possible.Clarify learning challenges and help improve understanding.

(5) Adopt educational methods using ICT systems
Use e-learning system and e-portfolio system.
The e-learning system is used for preparation/review, quizzes, submission of reports, etc.

(6) Using the Learning Route Map, students will make their own plans and proceed with their studies.
The flow of learning for four years is shown in the learning flow chart.In addition, the curriculum map shows the subject system for each major.Students refer to learning flowcharts and curriculum maps, consider their career path after graduation, and formulate a four-year plan, which is expressed on a learning route map.We will check the execution of the plan from time to time, and aim to achieve the target while revising the plan if necessary.

3) Educational evaluation

The following concepts and methods will be used to evaluate each subject and the six goals listed in the Diploma Policy.

(1) Summative assessment at the end of each semester, using formative assessment
In each subject, tests, reports, presentations, etc. are used to evaluate learning outcomes.Reports and presentations are evaluated using rubrics.Evaluations are also conducted during the semester to determine the level of understanding of students and to set up supplementary lessons and provide feedback to students (formative evaluation).At the end of the semester, a comprehensive overall assessment is conducted (summative assessment).Grading will be conducted in a multifaceted and comprehensive manner by combining these evaluations.

(2) Check your progress by regularly checking the KUISs learning benchmark
Once every six months, students conduct self-evaluation using evaluation indicators (KUISs Learning Benchmark Rubrics) that determine the degree of achievement of the abilities and qualities listed in the policy for graduation certification and degree conferment. I will ask you to confirm.

(3) At the end of the second year, we will confirm the acquisition of basic specialized knowledge through an achievement confirmation test.
At the end of the second year, students will take an "Achievement Confirmation Examination" to check their acquisition of basic specialized knowledge and their ability to complete graduation research.Those who fail the exam will be asked to retake the exam and pass the exam.

(4) Graduation research confirms acquisition of specialized knowledge at the time of graduation
The four-year learning outcomes will be comprehensively evaluated through a graduation research (compulsory subject) that deals with issues related to international communication.The evaluation method is carried out by multiple instructors using a common evaluation index (evaluation rubric).
