1. Graduation Accreditation Policy (Diploma Policy)

The Department of Global Studies awards a bachelor's degree in international studies to students who have acquired 126 credits, fulfilled the prerequisites, and met the following requirements. These standards require students to utilize specialized knowledge and skills based on scientific perspectives such as sociology and business administration to contribute to solving problems in global and local communities, and to comprehensively demonstrate the six abilities and qualities of our educational goals based on the educational mission of the Hamana Yamate Gakuin School Corporation (Communication, Consideration, Commitment).

2.Curriculum Policy (Curriculum Policy)

In the Department of Global Studies, we systematically organize the curriculum over the four years so that students can acquire the knowledge and skills set out in the "Diploma Policy for Graduation Certification," and we evaluate their progress by devising innovative teaching methods.

1) Education content

The curriculum of the Department of Global Studies is composed of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects, and is organized so that students can learn step by step from the basics to application. This will foster talented people who can deal with multicultural coexistence and international problem solving.

Systematic organization

Subjects are numbered to clarify the content and difficulty, and courses are prioritized to support planned learning.

Practical learning

In addition to classroom learning, you will integrate theory and practice through field trips both domestically and internationally, and project-based learning.

(1) Basic Education Subjects
To form a foundation for your studies at university and your life after graduation, you will study the following:
・Communication subjects
Students will learn languages ​​(English and second foreign languages), ICT skills, leadership, etc., and develop communication skills for a global society.
・Consideration subjects
With a focus on "human studies" and "SDGs and sustainability," students will consider social issues from a scientific perspective. They will also acquire knowledge and skills in data science.
・Commitment subjects
Through experiential learning both in Japan and overseas (global studies, service learning, cooperative programs), we broaden our perspective on multicultural coexistence and develop the ability to respond to social issues.

(2) Specialized Education Subjects
Specialized education subjects are comprised of four categories: Foundation Subjects, Core Subjects, Advanced Subjects, and Comprehensive Seminar Subjects. Students can select from the following three courses or study them cross-sectionally:
(A) International Business Course
Students will learn the marketing and organizational management necessary for international business expansion.
(a) Japanese Language and Culture Course
You will learn about Japanese culture, the structure of the Japanese language, and Japanese language teaching methods, and contribute to the dissemination of Japanese culture and regional development.
(C) Tourism and Urban Development Course
Students will learn about tourism-centered urban development and explore how to utilize local media and next-generation inbound tourism.
・Basic subjects
Students will acquire the fundamental skills for the Global Studies Department, such as language skills and understanding of diversity.
・Core subjects
Students will learn content common to all courses, such as international society, local society, and intercultural communication.
・Advanced Subjects
Students will develop what they have learned in their core subjects and deepen their knowledge specific to each course.
・Comprehensive Seminar Courses
In the "Global Workshop Project," students learn the basics of project management and gain experience through group simulations and practice. In the "Graduation Research," students set a theme, conduct research and studies, and create a deliverable.

2) Teaching methods

(1) Introduction of active learning
・We utilize group work and discussion to provide an environment where students can learn independently and proactively.
・Through service learning, cooperative programs, and global studies, students will develop the ability to identify and solve real-world problems. They will utilize their practical experience in their next studies.

(2) Feedback and reflection
- Multiple evaluations will be conducted during and at the end of the semester, and answer sheets and reports will be returned to clarify learning objectives.
- Students will use their learning portfolios to conduct self-evaluations and reflections, and deepen their learning through interviews with their advisory professors.

(3) Education using AI and ICT
- Use generative AI in your classes to expand knowledge and ideas, and develop the ability to judge credibility and feasibility.
・We will use the LMS to support preparation and review, quizzes, report submission, and the creation of learning portfolios. Classes will be conducted face-to-face, online, or a combination of both.

(4) Planned study
・We provide a study flow chart to help students create a four-year study plan with an eye toward their future careers after graduation. We will continually check the progress of the plan and make adjustments as necessary to help students achieve their goals.

3) Educational evaluation

(1) Formative and summative evaluation
・Learning outcomes will be evaluated through tests, reports and presentations in each subject.
-Formative assessments will be conducted throughout the semester to gauge students' understanding and provide supplementary lessons and feedback.
A comprehensive evaluation will be conducted at the end of the semester and grades will be assessed in a multifaceted and comprehensive manner by combining these assessments.

(2) Confirmation of achievement level through KUISs learning benchmarks
- Every six months, students will conduct a self-evaluation to see how well they have achieved the abilities and qualities set out in the diploma policy.
・Students will meet with faculty members to check their progress and set their next learning goals.

(3) Examination to confirm achievement at the end of the second year
At the end of the second year, a completion test will be administered to assess whether students have acquired the basic skills required for taking the graduation research course.
Those who fail will be required to retake the test and be expected to pass it.

(4) Comprehensive evaluation based on graduation research
・The results of four years of learning will be comprehensively evaluated through a compulsory graduation research project on a global issue.
-Evaluation will be conducted by multiple faculty members using a common evaluation index (rubric).

3. Policy regarding acceptance of new students (admission policy)

The Department of Global Studies is seeking individuals who have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as a sense of purpose and motivation, necessary to receive an education based on the "Diploma Policy" and "Curriculum Policy."

Desirable level to be acquired in high school

(1) Knowledge and skills
- Have completed a wide range of educational courses at high school.
・Have acquired Japanese language proficiency (modern Japanese language, language culture) and have acquired basic skills equivalent to or exceeding the kanji proficiency level of Level 3.
・Has basic English skills (approximately equivalent to Eiken Grade Pre-2) and can converse in everyday English and read and write complete sentences.
- Have acquired basic mathematical skills (equivalent to Mathematics I and Mathematics A).

(2) Thinking ability, judgment ability, and expressive ability
- Ability to think logically about social issues related to business, international relations, culture, and education based on knowledge and information, and to explain the results.

(3) Independence, diversity, and collaboration
- Have experience in group learning, extracurricular activities, and volunteer activities, and have the ability to work with others to accomplish tasks.
- Have the desire to play an active role in the international community in fields related to business, international relations, culture, and education.
