2.Curriculum Policy (Curriculum Policy)

In this department, we will systematically organize the four-year educational content, devise educational methods, and evaluate the achievement status so that students can acquire the knowledge and skills listed in the policy for accreditation of graduation.

1) Education content

The curriculum of this department consists of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects, classified according to subject content, and organized so that students can learn step by step from basic to applied.
In order to clarify the gradual organization of courses, all courses are numbered with symbols and numbers that express the content and degree of difficulty, and the curriculum system and the priority of courses are clearly indicated.
The contents of basic education subjects and specialized education subjects are as follows.

In basic education courses, students acquire the basic skills necessary for their studies at university, as well as the education and skills that will serve as the foundation for leading a fulfilling life.
Fundamental education subjects are organized mainly for lower grades, and learn the following contents.

Specialized education consists of a group of "basic subjects" in the fields of sociology and data science, a group of "core subjects" that form the core of the two majors (sociology and data science majors), and a "core subject" that leads to more advanced learning. We organize a group of "development subjects", and a group of "comprehensive seminars", which are complementary to these three subject groups and lead to the culmination of learning at university.

(1) In the first year, students will focus on “basic subjects,” such as the basics of sociological perspectives and ways of thinking, as well as the basics of social research and data science.

3) Educational evaluation

Evaluation of each subject and evaluation of the six goals listed in the policy regarding graduation certification will be conducted according to the following concepts and methods.

(1) Summative assessment at the end of each semester, using formative assessment

At the end of the second year, we will check the acquisition status of the content of the compulsory specialized subjects up to that point, and check whether the basic level for completing "Graduation Research I", "Graduation Research II", and "Graduation Thesis/Production" has been achieved. An "Achievement Confirmation Test" will be conducted to confirm, and passing the test will be a requirement for advancing to the next grade.

(4) "Graduation Thesis/Production" confirms the acquisition of specialized knowledge and skills at the time of graduation.
Students who have been enrolled for three years or more, meet the requirements for GPA and number of credits stipulated in the course regulations, and pass the above-mentioned "Achievement Confirmation Examination" to be eligible for "Graduation Research I", "Graduation Research II" and "Graduation Thesis".・Creation of "Production" will be accepted.
