Director greeting

The type of teacher or childcare worker required in modern society is changing.

In this situation, our university's Teacher Education Promotion Office provides daily support to students aiming to become teachers or childcare workers.
Our university trains teachers and childcare workers based on the educational philosophy of "Love for the Garden." We aim to train professional teachers and childcare workers who continue to learn, build trusting relationships with people, recognize diverse values, and contribute to society. To that end, our university places emphasis on practical learning as well as theoretical learning when training teachers and childcare workers. Below we introduce the distinctive educational content.

1. Education to train teachers and childcare workers with strong crisis management skills
At our university, students can acquire a teaching license, a childcare worker qualification, and a disaster prevention qualification. Japan is prone to natural disasters, and there is a possibility of a major natural disaster occurring in the future, such as a major Nankai Trough earthquake. In such a situation, we train teachers and childcare workers who can not only take on the role of disaster prevention educators, but also protect children's lives.

② Education that cultivates teachers and childcare workers who have a global perspective and respect diversity
In addition to overseas study, our educational programs also include a global study program, which involves studying abroad in countries such as the United States, Australia, Cambodia, Indonesia, and Taiwan. Many of our graduates are currently making use of this experience and working in schools.

3) Education to train teachers and childcare workers who are highly conscious of contributing to society
Our university's educational program includes a service learning program, which deepens learning through activities that contribute to society. For example, we support play activities for preschoolers and elementary school students, the operation of children's cafeterias, and academic support for children of foreign origin. All students take part in some kind of social contribution activity while enrolled at the university, and we train them to become professionals who can continue to be active members of society and citizens after graduation.

4) Education to train teachers and childcare workers with high ICT skills
Classes aimed at utilizing ICT equipment and generative AI are compulsory for all universities, but the Faculty of Education is also experimenting with using 360-degree cameras, which can record the entire scene, to film mock childcare sessions on campus and activities at training kindergartens, allowing students to reflect in detail on their own actions and the behavior of children. In addition to this, we provide education that allows students to naturally acquire ICT utilization skills in a variety of classes related to education, childcare, and welfare.
