[Center for Global Education] Global Study II (Malaysia/2017 Summer Kedah) Activity Report 2

We would like to introduce the second report of "Global Study Malaysia Summer Kedah", which was just returned to Japan on August 8th (Wednesday).

This program conducted research on the global disaster countermeasures and risk management required in the Asian region through international comparisons of the significance and behavior of "safety and security." During the two-week program, I spent nine days at Utala University Malaysia (UUM), a prestigious national university in Kedah, northern Malaysia, with 2 students from the same university.

The program at UUM includes lectures on disaster prevention and food security, field studies such as visits to local Malaysian companies and tsunami-affected areas, as well as exchanges such as exploration in tropical rainforests and eco-tours on four-wheeled buggies (ATVs). It consisted of various contents such as programs.

In addition, there were many discussions and presentations by 20 Japanese-Malaysian mixed groups.Through these activities, exchanges between students progressed. In addition, an attempt was made to deepen exchanges by bringing Japanese disaster prevention goods and exhibiting and explaining them.

This was the first time for many of the students to go abroad, but thanks to their willingness to learn, they were able to gain a lot of experience and gain new insights.I am very much looking forward to seeing how they will make use of their experiences in this program after returning to Japan.
