The first-year students majoring in social welfare have been working at three facilities for the disabled since August 1 as part of their "Service Learning A (Collaboration with Facilities for the Disabled)" field activity.
In the pre-learning session on August 8, participants exchanged their opinions about their images of "disabled people", and unconscious prejudice against "disabled people" became apparent. In this service learning, we will consider how we can realize a society of social inclusion in which all people can live together regardless of whether they have disabilities or not.
For many of the students, it was their first time working with people with disabilities, and on the first day they looked nervous, but as they continued their activities at facilities for the disabled, their expressions softened and they are doing their best.
In mid-September, mid-term study will be held, and based on activities at facilities for persons with disabilities, each student will think about what each student can do for social inclusion.
