During the intensive course period in August, the students of the Department of Human Psychology worked on a service-learning program with the theme of "building a town that protects children from crime."By taking on the challenge of creating a safe and secure community, this program aims to cultivate problem-solving and execution skills, foster a sense of norms, and nurture the zest for life.
In the preliminary study, we learned about the actual situation of the area and the crime occurrence situation, and investigated the issues in the area.In the field activities, we observed and investigated the Midorigaoka area from the viewpoint of crime prevention while comparing the contents of the preliminary study with the current situation. Then, we analyzed the actual survey data, discussed the challenges in crime prevention that each felt, and created a crime prevention map that was easy for children to understand.
On September 9, at the Miki Municipal Education Center, we made a presentation to the local community using PowerPoint and a crime prevention map about the problems and improvement measures in the Midorigaoka area that we investigated from the perspective of crime prevention. The announcement was also published in the Kobe Shimbun on September 5th.
