[Center for Global Education] Global Study I Busan, South Korea Program/Activity Report

We have received the activity report of "Global Study I (Korea / 2017 Summer Busan)", so we will introduce it.

In this program, using Busan, the second largest city in South Korea, as a field, each group prepares play tools in advance and conducts activities to play with the children there.

On the second day of the program, the students visited Dongseo University, a partner school, and had exchange activities with other students.First, the students had a discussion with Dongseo University students based on the results of their research on children's play before traveling to Korea. The students seemed to understand the importance of going out into the field and conducting research, feeling the difference between what they had researched in advance in literature and on the Internet and what the students of Dongseo University had actually experienced. .

After the discussion, each group had lunch with students from Dongseo University and deepened their friendship. These days, safety and security are becoming an important social issue, so it was a very valuable opportunity.

On the third day, we visited Shinko Nursery School (an orphanage for children) in the morning and received a lecture from the principal about the role of the facility and the lives of the children.Afterwards, we toured the children's living spaces. In the evening, they visited the children's home "Ondalsen" and worked with the children at the facility using play equipment prepared in advance for each group. After returning to the hotel, we reflected on what we had learned (what we learned and what it means) and made corrections for the next day's activities.

On the fourth day, we visited “Ondalsaeng” again and experienced an art program for children in South Korea together in the morning. In the afternoon, we went to a nearby park and did activities related to play with the children. It seems that there were some things that did not go according to plan, but for the students, including such things, it seems that the activity was fulfilling.

After returning to Japan, as post-learning, each group discussed the significance of what they had learned through the activities in Busan, South Korea, and how they would make use of what they learned in the future. I'm planning to deepen my learning.

Last but not least, I would like to express my gratitude to everyone involved in Dongseo University, Ondalsen, the guides, and everyone else involved in GS Korea.I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you.
