[Center for Global Education] Global Study II (Indonesia/Winter Lampung 2017) Activity Report 1

From February 2018, 2, we are conducting Global Study II "International Comparison of Safety and Security Preparedness -Through fieldwork in Indonesia-" in Lampung, Indonesia.


This program is carried out jointly by students of the partner universities of the Asian Cooperative Program (ACP) Consortium, led by our university and Lampung University, a partner university located in the southernmost tip of Sumatra, Indonesia.Learn about safety and security in Indonesia, especially preparation for natural disasters, sustainable industries and environmental issues, and through comparison with participating students' home countries, understand diversity and develop problem-solving skills to realize a safe and secure society. intended to be worn.


Various natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, forest fires, floods, and landslides occur frequently in Indonesia, and there is a growing awareness of the need to prepare for disasters.Environmental issues are also being tackled with waste recycling and sustainability initiatives at large plantation farms.


In this program, students from Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines first learned basic knowledge about disaster prevention, mitigation, and the environment through lectures, including preparations for earthquakes and tsunamis, and recycling systems. .Then, they visited Great Giant Pineapple (GGPC), the world's largest pineapple factory in Lampung Province, where they observed composting and methane gas plants and learned specific examples of waste recycling.After that, in 4, I visited Liwa city in Lampung Province, which was hit by a large-scale earthquake disaster, and interviewed many residents of the disaster area about the situation of the disaster and restoration and reconstruction activities at that time. .We also visited a memorial monument where the names of those who died in the earthquake were carved, and offered a moment of silence.


At present, the results of the survey so far have been summarized in presentations for each group, and the preliminary presentation has just finished.It is expected that the discussion will be further deepened based on the opinions so far toward the presentation at the actual ACP meeting.
