[To all parents] In welcoming May under the declaration of a state of emergency

Kansai University of International Studies
President Atsushi Hamana

Three weeks have passed since the declaration of a state of emergency was issued to seven prefectures on April 4, and the same declaration, which was issued nationwide, will expire on May 7, but it is expected to be extended for another month or so. It isI would like to express my heartfelt sympathies to all of you who are forced to live inconvenient lives in an unprecedented situation and have various problems.

Fortunately, as of April 4th, the number of infected students at our university remains zero. However, we have confirmed that one faculty member was infected (already recovered) and that two of the guardians were infected during the leave period in March. .

Now, at our university, we will postpone the start of the semester, collect information such as safety confirmation, prepare for distance learning and prepare for the start of the semester from April 4th. I have answered. For three days from the 20th, we confirmed the safety of all students, their health conditions, course registration, internet environment, etc., and provided preliminary explanations. With the exception of some practical training courses that cannot be taught remotely, most of the courses have been delivered via Zoom, and although there have been inquiries regarding operations, the same number of students as in face-to-face classes have taken the classes one week after the start. is confirmed. There are some international students who have not been able to come to Japan, but they are able to attend the class because it is a remote class from overseas. With this crisis as an opportunity, it is certain that the use of IT around the world will progress dramatically, telework and distance learning will spread, and the state of society will change dramatically.

Thank you very much for your understanding and cooperation so far. Also, I would like to express my respect to the faculty and staff who have worked hard to prepare for this event.

As for the future, our university is aiming to resume face-to-face classes as soon as possible, while keeping an eye on trends such as national and prefectural declarations of a state of emergency. However, this situation is likely to be extended for another month or so.

The spring semester is scheduled to end on July 7, but it is expected that remote classes will continue for the time being. We would like to continue to do our utmost to provide the following consultations and support that we believe are necessary for students and parents.

・Study consultation/learning support (advisor, learning support center)

・Health consultation (infirmary)

・Mental Care (Student Counseling Room)

・Deferred and installment payment of tuition (Accounting Division)

・Enrollment support system, scholarship consultation (Student Division)

・Job Hunting (Career Support Division)

In any case, please feel free to contact us at the contact information below.

In order to prevent students from giving up their studies due to financial reasons, our university not only pays tuition fees in installments and defers payments, but also provides consultations so that students can make maximum use of the government and related organizations' enrollment support systems and scholarship systems. As a university, we will do our best to consider policies such as tuition support that will be announced by the government in the future. We kindly ask you to confirm the information and take the necessary procedures.

In the future, we will change the academic calendar, review various events, and even implement various practical trainings and global studies overseas. I will make adjustments so that all students can complete their studies.

We understand that this is a difficult situation for parents and guardians, but we ask that you take care of your health and prevent infection.
