[Department of Nursing] "About Home Care -The Attractiveness of Visiting Nurses Drawn by a Cartoonist Who is an Active Nurse-"

Unless the elixir of immortality is perfected, everyone will eventually die.For all of you, it's still a long way off, but where do you want to end your life?
Today, many people wish to spend their final days at home, where they are used to living, but the reality is that many people die in hospitals.Ending life at home... In order to fulfill their wishes, visiting nurses visit patients at home and support them and their families so that they can live in their own way until the end of their lives in a place of their choice.
I would like to introduce a manga called "I want to die at home-Natural and calm last days-", which is about the activities and end-of-life care of visiting nurses.
Natsumi Hirota, who is also my mother's friend, was a nurse at a general hospital before becoming an independent manga artist. She also worked as a visiting nurse while raising her children. She makes use of her experience and her personal connections to visit home-visit nursing and home care sites and draw cartoons.

This book, "I want to die at home -Natural and calm last days-" contains the true feelings of family members and visiting nurses who actually chose home care. There are cases where the child lives with one parent and one child, and a mother of two children who is financially insecure when her husband is diagnosed with terminal cancer and is suddenly told not to live long. I found it and spelled out how the family gets close to each other in a complete story.
As I read it, I burst into tears and realized that being a visiting nurse is a wonderful job!I re-recognised.

Through interviews with patients and their families, Mr. Hirota learned that many people give up dying at home because they don't want to cause trouble for their families. However, with the cooperation of doctors and visiting nurses, my anxiety was relieved." Through cartoons and lecture activities, we are conveying the appeal of end-of-life care to local residents.

In addition, the role of visiting nurses is also carefully described in this book, and there is also trivial knowledge about nursing care support services and medical insurance/nursing care insurance that are useful in times of emergency, so you can learn while enjoying the manga.

Hirota said, "Unlike doctors, there are limits to medical practice, but I am aware of the role of home-visit nurses who can be empathetic and talk to each other, who can ease the suffering of patients receiving medical treatment through heartfelt nursing and reduce the burden on their families. I want it," he said passionately.
Ms. Hirota will donate volumes 1 and 2 of "The Power of a Nurse," which depict the same experience of a home-visit nurse, to the university's library.
