Global Study I (China / 2020 Summer Jiangsu Province), 14 students from Jiangsu Ocean University, a partner university in China, and 27 students from our university, with the main theme of "Comparison between Japan and China on the impact of the corona crisis on university life and its response" However, seven mixed teams were formed to investigate the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus infection on their university life and behavioral patterns, as well as how university life should be in the future over a period of less than two months. have carried out activities.

An online international workshop was held as a place to present the interim results.Prior to the presentation, Professor Yasuo Kawawaki, Assistant to the President and Director of the Center for Global Education, and Professor Xiaojie Han, Director of International Cooperation, Jiangsu Ocean University, gave greetings.

For this program, students from our university apply from four faculties, and most students from Jiangsu Ocean University have less than two years of Japanese language study experience. Even just building relationships was a very difficult situation, and despite repeated confusion and failure, we managed to summarize the interim survey results and successfully held the online international workshop as planned. Students from Jiangsu Ocean University actively gave presentations in fluent Japanese in 2 out of XNUMX groups.

Lastly, Professor Masahiko Murata, Assistant to the President and Director of the Safety Management Education and Research Center, who gave the overall review, gave a very warm encouragement to the students' presentations, as follows.

・In the sense that we were able to conduct a global study online for the first time at our university, I think it can be said to be a very big historical turning point.

・In the case of a regular global study, many students go abroad for the first time to go abroad, discuss face-to-face, do group work, eat together, go out for fun if they have time, and so on. , There should have been such fun, but this time it was an online group work due to the influence of the corona disaster.Under such a big constraint, I think that you feel a certain sense of accomplishment because today, seven groups gave presentations in line with their respective themes.

・I believe that the experience of working together in a group to accomplish one thing is an important learning experience, and I believe that I have deepened my understanding of diversity, such as the commonalities and differences between Japan and China.I think that discussing such things based on your own learning experiences will have a great learning effect, so I would like you to deepen your research in a way that will lead to other classes and graduation research in the future.

・I think that there were many people who made foreign friends for the first time and had opportunities to talk with each other through the global study.I would like to cherish this relationship, and instead of saying "goodbye" when the global study is over, I hope that we will continue to exchange information as good friends, visit each other's countries whenever possible, and create opportunities to continue our exchanges. I hope

We are about to enter the post-learning period of this program, and we will use today's presentation materials in consideration of the knowledge gained through this international workshop, and at the same time we will summarize each group's own countermeasures. I plan to do reflection.
