Professor Shuichi Oka, who will be retiring this year, gave his final lecture at 3:25 on March 10 (Thursday) in Room 00 of our university.Mr. Oka made a very important talk so that the "Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake" would not be forgotten, and that the students would think of children first and act accordingly in the event of a disaster. Thank you.
It all started with a vertical sway, followed by a violent horizontal sway. It was from my experience. He also told us in detail what the people were like when they were evacuated, how they lived in the elementary school evacuation center for seven months, and what kind of support they received. .In addition, I was able to see valuable materials such as DVDs of the disaster that remain as actual images, class correspondence written by teachers, impressions of children, newspaper articles that show the growth of students, etc. I think that the students were able to attend the lecture with the feeling of being involved.
The students must have sensed many things from the way the teacher sometimes remembered those days and was at a loss for words. At the end, he said, "Perhaps you too may experience something like this someday. I strongly request that you all protect the children in front of you no matter what happens. I would like to end with this,” he said to the students.
In the eight years since 2013, when Professor Oka took up his post, we have sent out a total of 8 people who have passed the second round of the teacher employment examination. In addition, President Atsushi Hamana of our university told us that he did not just produce successful students, but also inspired the students with the passion for education that he has. I understand that you have received
We, the faculty members, will also carry on Professor Oka's thoughts and continue to devote ourselves to the training of faculty members of this faculty.
I wish Dr. Oka good health in the future.I'm really thankful to you.
