Atsushi Hamana

This is Hamana, the president of the university.

The cherry blossoms are in full bloom, and I hope everyone is looking forward to the new school year and new semester. So far, there have been intermittent infections among our students, but thanks to everyone's cooperation and the efforts of the faculty and staff, we were able to finish the 2020 academic year with face-to-face classes in principle without clusters.

Well, although the declaration of emergency has been lifted, there are concerns about the increase in the number of new coronavirus mutations and the increase in the number of infected people in the Kansai region.

Our university was no exception. On March 3, three students at Miki Campus were found to be infected with the mutant strain, and were hospitalized at a medical institution. In response to this situation, the Miki Campus switched all Reflection Days on the 22th and 3th to online, and closed the campus until the 24th.

Since these three students were all students living in the student dormitory (Yuai Dormitory) of this university, they received guidance from the Kato Public Health Center, and all other dormitory students and dormitory staff who were staying in the same dormitory also underwent PCR tests. As a result, I got a message that all of them were negative. However, all 3 people who tested positive were identified as infected with the mutant strain, and under the guidance of the public health center, all dormitory students in Yuai Dormitory Until April 4th, I will wait in my room in the dormitory and take measures to observe the progress with the cooperation of the teachers of the Department of Nursing.

On the other hand, the government has decided to implement "Priority measures to prevent the spread of infection", which enables intensive measures even if a state of emergency has not been declared, for a month from April 4th to May 5th, Osaka Prefecture ( Osaka City), Hyogo Prefecture (Kobe City, Nishinomiya City, Amagasaki City, Ashiya City), and Miyagi Prefecture (Sendai City). In this area, restaurants are requested to shorten their business hours until 5:5 pm, refrain from using karaoke equipment, hold events with a maximum capacity of 1 people, and promote telework We are going to do it.

Our universityFreshman Week from April and classes in the spring semester will be held as scheduled, in principle, as in the fall semester of 4.However, for those who find it difficult to attend face-to-face classes for physical or mental reasons, we are also accepting remote classes. For details, please contact the Academic Affairs Division of each campus.

Our universityWe will continue to take thorough measures to prevent the spread of infection, and strive to balance the safety and learning of everyone.

to all of youIn addition to continuing to thoroughly implement infection prevention measures (checking your health, wearing a mask, disinfecting your hands, and using COCOA), please avoid unnecessary outings, cherry blossom viewing, social gatherings with new students, etc. please.

In particular, the number of young people infected has been increasing recently. Please take responsibility for your own actions and continue to pay attention to your own health without overestimating your health so as not to affect your family, friends, and others around you.Regarding restrictions on how to spend time on campus and extracurricular activities, we will monitor the future situation and contact you again.

Let's get through the new school year and new semester with everyone's cooperation without losing to the corona misfortune.
