Dear Parents,
Kansai International University President
Chief of Crisis Response Headquarters
Atsushi Hamana
This is Hamana, the president of the university. One month has passed since the government declared a state of emergency for the third time on April 4, but unfortunately today it was decided to extend the period until June 25.
It has already been more than five weeks since the remote class that started on April 4th, and I believe that you are living an inconvenient life with various anxieties related to infection.I am filled with regret that the days continue when I am unable to have face-to-face conversations with my friends or experience classes and events on campus.
Now, we would like to inform you that we have decided on a policy regarding classes from June onwards as a university in response to the extension of the declaration.
This week, we conducted a survey of all students about their intentions for classes from June onwards. As a result, 6% of the students responded within 3 days.Thank you for your cooperation.Looking at the results, 79% wanted "remote" and 60% wanted "face-to-face" (40% wanted full face-to-face, 20% wanted only some classes), and the awareness of safety and security was subjective. It turns out that there is a big difference in how individuals feel.Looking at the content of anxiety, it was found that the majority of people felt about three things: “anxiety about being infected”, “anxiety about infecting family members”, and “anxiety about prolonging the corona disaster”.
At our university, we have made decisions so far in order to ensure both the safety of everyone and the two principles of keeping up with learning.Regarding this time as well, we will refer to the policies of the national government and Hyogo Prefecture and decide the policy as follows.
XNUMX.everyoneAfter June 6th (Monday), register whether you wish to take the course face-to-face or remotely (the registration period is from May 7th to June 5rd), and take the course during the spring semester. You decide the method by yourself, and as a general rule, you will continue to take classes in that method until the end of July.(Unless there is a special reason, it cannot be changed in the middle). In addition, students who are taking practical training-related courses in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the Faculty of Psychology, required courses for disaster prevention specialists (see the attached sheet for specific designated subjects), and those who wish to receive guidance for the teacher recruitment examination of the Faculty of Education should attend face-to-face. please.
XNUMX.Those who wish to take face-to-face classes are required to comply with the following conditions.
XNUMX) Thorough infection control measures such as observing social distance on campus and wearing non-woven masks
XNUMX) Restrictions on eating and drinking in groups on campus and eating silently (prohibition of talking without wearing a mask)
XNUMX) I would like you to definitely participate in the "monitoring for early detection of signs of the spread of infection" implemented by the Cabinet Office and take a PCR test every week (free. However, due to this monitoring, it will be changed in the middle) You can not).At that time, we will ask you to submit a letter of consent from the person (if you are a minor, consent from your guardian is required).
7.As a general rule, those who wish to take remote courses will be able to take remote courses until the end of July, and no changes will be allowed in the middle. However, as before, we will allow students to borrow books and other materials from the media library, come to school for certificate issuance, and enter the campus for various consultations by advance reservation.
5.At each campus, classes will be held until the 6th period, and graduate school courses that will be held after the 8th period will continue to be held remotely, and students will be able to use the campus from 30:18 to 30:XNUMX. increase.
All the faculty and staff, including myself, are looking forward to the end of the spring semester at the end of July, when the coronavirus pandemic will be contained and all students will be able to return to campus safely.Until then, I hope that you will pay close attention to infection control and health management, and incorporate it into your focused learning.
