◆"A New Map of Japanese Language Education - Rewriting Specialized Knowledge"
[Comment from Professor Masakazu Baekje]
This book was planned before Naoko Aoki, a former professor at Osaka University, passed away in July 2018.
Many of the authors are world-famous applied linguists who have a close relationship with Professor Naoko Aoki, as well as up-and-coming researchers who are former Naoko Aoki seminar students who received direct thesis guidance from Professor Aoki.It was a great honor to be invited to write for this "book for discussing new applied linguistics and language education based on it".
This book discusses "language education" from the perspective of applied linguistics.Up to now, "applied linguistics" has literally applied the research results of "linguistics" to research and practice. However, in order to tackle the "problems of language use and learning in the real world," which is the subject of research in applied linguistics, it has been found that knowledge from linguistics alone is not useful. , sociology, cultural anthropology, and pedagogy. However, until recently, it can be said that this trend has not reached Japan's English education, and even Japanese language education. This book, the first full-scale introduction to applied linguistics and language education published in Japanese, is expected to have a major impact on English and Japanese language education in Japan in the future.
