On Sunday, June 6, five first- and second-year students from the Miki Campus visited Kasuga-cho, Tanba City. This is the first visit to Tanba City this year, as the rice planting scheduled for May has been cancelled.
In the Faculty of Business Administration, second-year students work on "company projects."
This year, we recruited "seedling owners" of mini tomatoes in advance, secured funds, and started the planting work in Tanba City. With the careful guidance of Ichigo Ichigo, a group of professional farmers, the work was completed quickly.
The cherry tomatoes grown in Tamba will be processed into tomato sauce and sold as pizza toast at the Asia Festival in October.

At lunch time, I enjoyed a meal full of black soybeans from Yume no Ki.
After lunch, we heard from Mr. Yanagawa, president of Yanagawa Co., Ltd. During the spring semester's weekly hour, the first-year students worked on the task of "how to effectively utilize the greenhouse of the Tanba City Clean Center" as an exchange project with Tanba City. I was talking about, so this will be the second time on this day.
In the afternoon, we visited Sankara, the atelier of Chihiro Irazumus, a Tamba-fu artist. While learning about the history of Tamba-fu, which was said to have almost disappeared at one time, they experienced a workshop using precious Tamba-fu and challenged themselves to make coasters and walnut buttons.
In autumn, we plan to visit Tanba City again for rice harvesting and strawberry projects.
