Tea is called tea in English. It is mainly made by processing the leaves of the tea tree, but in Japanese, there is a distinction between green tea and red tea depending on the color.Even in English, they are called green tea and black tea by distinguishing between colors.Green tea uses the same 'green' in English, but the other uses different 'colors', 'beni' and 'black'.This is because Japanese focuses on the color of the extracted tea and English focuses on the color of the leaves. If you make tea from the leaves, it is true that the liquid you drink is "green" in green tea, but the leaves are also "green".Black tea, on the other hand, is reddish when drunk, but the leaves are black.
Also, powdered tea (= Matcha) is drunk without adding anything else in Japan, whereas in England it is drunk with sugar or milk. It's interesting that even if the same thing is transmitted, it develops differently depending on the region.
By the way, coffee is distinguished by its colored name, such as black coffee, and white coffee with milk, but in the case of black tea, it is called tea with milk, and is not called white tea.The black color of black tea is the color of the leaves, so it doesn't matter what color it is when you drink it.
