~When the European Union (EU) was not yet formed~I never left the UK (United Kingdom) because I was afraid to go to Europe.
I'm scared of Paris, I was told to be careful when walking on the roads, because when I'm walking down the street, I'm suddenly pulled into buildings and cars and taken away. I couldn't be.Many of the people who came to London from Japan returned home within a year, but one of them left the travel book "Chikyu no Arukikata" before returning to Japan. It was a record of people who had walked the earth with their own feet.It was a book that gave me the courage to go.
In that book, there was a town called Antibes in the south of France, and there was a small castle nearby, and there was an article about the view of the city from there.I decided to visit this city for my next vacation. From London we passed through Paris, took the train to Antibes and looked for the castle the next morning. It shouldn't be far from the station, but there isn't anything that looks like a castle in the area, so I asked the station staff and they said it would be good to climb the nearby hill.It was a steep slope, and I was drenched in sweat as I climbed. Near the top, there was a mountain hut that looked like a coffee shop.It was a refreshing natural taste with ice and lemon. After taking a breather, I went to the top, and the townscape seen from the small castle had the calmness of southern France.
Now, when I returned to London and continued my studies, it became difficult. But I never visited after that.I think it was a desire to escape, in other words, to have a slight feeling of hopelessness when something painful happened. But in the summer, I always drink lemon water that I made myself.
"How to walk the earth" made me feel familiar with unknown lands, and played a role in supporting my life.
