In the "Tourism Business Model Theory" course, which teaches business models and design, I worked on a mission (issue) to attract and revitalize young people in the Ujigawa shopping district near the university.
The number of shopping streets is decreasing nationwide, and the number of vacant stores is increasing accordingly.First of all, I can't understand the situation unless I visit the shopping district, so I decided to go out for the observation survey that I trained in class.Due to the COVID-2 pandemic, I decided to choose a convenient date and time for a small group, so I decided to go with two good friends.
I live near the Ujigawa shopping arcade, so I've been there before, but I've only been to supermarkets and banks.When I researched and observed it again, I found that there were not only neighbors but also people visiting by car, and although there was a lot of people, there were many people just passing by.
Furthermore, the interview without an appointment is also carried out!
I have visited a wide range of stores, from long-established stores to stores that have been open for three years, and all the stores have been very kind to me.Through the interviews, we were also able to find an unexpected issue: the image of the customer base differs between stores.
Based on the results of this observational survey and material research, we came up with a plan, created a PowerPoint presentation, and held a plan proposal meeting for members of the Ujigawa Shotenkai Federation.
15 people presented their proposals, and the judges of the Federation of Store Associations commented, "It was a very stimulating proposal. I want to actually realize what I can do." rice field.
Unlike other classes, I was able to deepen my learning through the process of practically solving problems, so it was very rewarding.
