On July 3th (Sat) and September 7rd (Fri), 24, at the training room on the 9rd floor of the Nursing Building,NCPR primary course seminarhas been held.
The purpose of this workshop is to learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for newborns whose extra-uterine respiratory circulation cannot be transferred smoothly at birth. In 2007, the Japanese Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine promoted the dissemination of Neonatal Resuscitation (NCPR) with the aim of establishing a system in which medical staff trained in neonatal resuscitation can attend all deliveries as persons in charge of newborns. We started our business.
The NCPR primary course workshop held this time was aimed at nursing and midwifery students who do not have a nursing license.Neonatal Resuscitation Completion Certificate CardLast year, we started holding this event for midwifery-selected students for the first time at our university.
This time too, Hiroe Washio (I), an associate professor in the field of maternity nursing in the Department of Nursing, is recruiting not only midwifery students but also nursing students (not midwifery elective students) for the first time as a certified instructor of the Japanese Society of Perinatal and Neonatal Medicine. , 2-day lectures for 4 midwifery students and 8 nursing students
was held.By mastering the theory and techniques of standard neonatal resuscitation, this workshop is expected to save the lives of infants and avoid serious disabilities, and will lead to the future success of our students. think.
The primary course lectures are usually 3 hours of lectures and practice for the purpose of "acquiring basic neonatal resuscitation methods consisting of ``clinical knowledge'' and ``practical'' excluding tracheal intubation and drug administration." However, at our university, we had midwifery students actually perform tracheal intubation, and the seminar, including lectures, lasted for one day.In addition, although it is a seminar that usually costs money if you try to take it yourself, this time as well, the instructor was a faculty member of our university, so it was free!
In the exercises, we assume many cases and simulate the techniques necessary for neonatal lifesaving.Assess newborns initially for 60 seconds and then every 30 seconds thereafterHowever, the prognosis of the newborn depends greatly on whether the infant has the knowledge and skills to start artificial respiration within the first 60 seconds.Observing, judging, and acting within the allotted time was the most difficult part of the course, but we repeated it until each student was able to do it.

Below are the impressions of the students after the seminar.
- Unlike classroom lectures, when I actually practiced NCPR, I lost track of the algorithm, and it was difficult at first.
- I learned a lot from the exercises.
- I could not only understand many things because I was able to repeat the practice, but I was also able to learn the importance of judgment.
- I think I was able to grasp the flow not by what I learned in textbooks, but by actually doing it.
- I was able to learn about neonatal resuscitation.I was nervous about the test, but I had studied a little beforehand, so I understood the class better.
- I am glad that I was able to learn new knowledge and techniques.
- I was able to deepen my understanding through lectures and exercises, even though it was difficult to understand in the textbook. Also, since it was an exercise using case studies, it was good that I could understand how it would actually go.
- It's been really helpful and fun to learn. This time, I am really glad that I was able to study B course while I was still a student.thank you very much.
- It was good to have a better understanding of what actions to take by implementing NCPR through case studies.I would like to continue to participate in training courses in order to improve my skills and career.
- I was able to learn not only adult resuscitation methods but also newborn resuscitation methods, which I am glad that I can use in the future.
- I'm glad I was able to take the class for free on campus with a small number of people. It was a very deep learning between national exam measures and job hunting.
- When I am assigned to a department related to newborns in the future, I would like to make use of the knowledge and skills I learned in today's seminar. With a small number of people, I was able to acquire skills by having each person take the time to teach me.thank you very much.
And the good news that all 12 students passed the exam thanks to the hard work of the students! ! !
In the future, let's do our best together to pass the nurse and midwife national exam!
