[Department of Nursing] The road to becoming a nurse Part XNUMX: What is pediatric nursing practice?

The road to becoming a nurse Part XNUMX: "To become a nurse..."Here are the different courses you can take to become a nurse.

In Part XNUMX, I was planning to introduce the national nurse examination in detail, but before that, I will explain the pediatric nursing practice in particular in the learning to become a nurse.

Pediatric Nursing is a field of nursing for children and their families, not only for children with illnesses and disabilities, but also for healthy children.

At our university, specialized subjects related to pediatric nursing begin in the second year, and through lectures and exercises, students learn about the growth and development of healthy children, health support, nursing for sick and disabled children and their families, and pediatric nursing techniques. In the third grade, pediatric nursing practice begins.

In recent years, due to the increase in nurse training facilities and the decrease in pediatric medical facilities due to the declining birthrate, the fields for pediatric nursing practice are not only pediatric wards, but also NICUs (neonatal intensive care units), pediatric outpatients / clinics, childcare facilities, etc. There are now a wide range of facilities, including facilities for children with disabilities, educational institutions (elementary and junior high schools, special support schools), and childcare support facilities*.Pediatric wards include wards of hospitals that specialize in children (only children are hospitalized, but they are divided by age and department), wards in general hospitals where only children are hospitalized, and children's wards. There are various hospital environments for children, such as mixed wards for children and adults.

At our university, third-year pediatric nursing practice is conducted at nursery facilities and pediatric wards of general hospitals, and fourth-year integrated nursing practice (selective fields) is practiced at pediatric hospital wards and facilities for children with disabilities.

No matter what school you go to to become a nurse, there is a pediatric nursing practice, but the content differs depending on the school, and the practical training is done with a lot of ingenuity. This can be said to be the characteristic of each school for the entire curriculum.
