So far, under the theme of "the road to becoming a nurse," I have introduced courses to become a nurse and what to study at university to become a nurse.
-The road to becoming a nurse Part XNUMX: "To become a nurse..."
-The Path to Becoming a Nurse Part XNUMX: What is Pediatric Nursing Practicum?
This time, we will introduce the “National Nursing Examination” in detail.
The National Examination for Nurses is a test to check whether you have acquired the minimum knowledge and skills necessary for a nurse, based on Article 17 of the Public Health Nurses, Midwives and Nurses Law.It is held in February every year, and the next time is scheduled to be held on February 2, 111 at the 2022th time.
Passing the National Examination for NursingNurse License (National Qualification)can be obtained.In addition, since passing the national examination for nurses is a prerequisite for obtaining certification as a public health nurse/midwife, students in the public health nurse/midwifery course must pass two national exams at the same time.
The test is divided into morning and afternoon sessions, with 120 questions each and a total of 240 questions.The breakdown is shown in Table 1.
The problem is,Compulsory question50 questions (questioning especially basic questions for nurses),General problem(A wide range of questions from each field and subject other than compulsory questions) 130 questions,situation setting problemThere are 60 questions (to test the understanding and judgment as a nurse by setting up the situations that you will encounter in the nursing field).
Table 1 Test method
| Problem type | Number of questions | Collocation | Time | |
| a.m. | Compulsory question | 25 | 25 (1 point/question) | 2 hours 40 minutes |
| General problem | 65 | 65 (1 point/question) | ||
| situation setting problem | 30 | 60 (2 point/question) | ||
| afternoon | Compulsory question | 25 | 25 (1 point/question) | 2 hours 40 minutes |
| General problem | 65 | 65 (1 point/question) | ||
| situation setting problem | 30 | 60 (2 point/question) |
The pass/fail of the National Nurse Examination is determined by a score of 50 points out of 40 (correct answer rate of 80%) or higher for the compulsory questions and a total score of 250 points for the general questions and setting questions (the borderline varies depending on the year). (Table 2).By the way, in the 110th National Nurse Examination, the passing line was 250 out of 159 points (correct answer rate 63.6%).
Even if the compulsory questions exceed 80%, you will not be able to pass unless the general questions and situation setting questions exceed the borderline.Of course, the opposite is also true.
Table 2 Acceptance Criteria
| problem structure | number of questions | Collocation | Borderline | |
| A |
Compulsory question |
50 questions |
50 points (1 point/question) | Accuracy rate of 80% or more |
| B |

Determined by the sum of general questions and situation setting questions (out of 250 points) |
| situation setting problem | 60 questions | 120 points (2 point/question) |
■AとBPass if both meet the criteria
The national pass rate is around 90% and most students pass. The national pass rate for the 2020 110th National Nurse Examination was 90.4%.By the way, the pass rate of our university was 99% for the national exam for nurses, and 100% for both the public health nurse and midwifery exams.
Nursing learning is a series of lectures, exercises, and on-the-job training.However, it seems that this is currently difficult.
I think that each university and training center is working on national exam measures for passing the nurse national exam.At our university, we provide a variety of support so that students can take the initiative in studying for national exams.Open Campusand! ).
The purpose of the national exam preparation is not only to pass the national nurse exam, but also to acquire the ability to persevere to the end through daily study to pass (which leads to a sense of achievement and confidence), acquire an attitude to learn independently, and graduate. I think that it is to become a nurse who can learn voluntarily with problems later.As with anything, I believe that "today, now, to the best of my ability..." I believe that the accumulation of daily efforts will lead to achievement of goals and success.
How do you like it?It seems to be hard, I'm interested ... I think that you have various impressions.What kind of national exam measures are taken by each educational institution, what is the pass rate, etc.Open CampusI think it would be a good idea to participate in and collect information and use it as a reference for choosing a course.
