[Department of Integrated Sociology] <Column> ZOOM Manners

Since last year, I have been using ZOOM frequently, not only for remote classes, but the "ZOOM Manners" written by a manners instructor has become a hot topic in some circles.

According to it, "Let's enter the room XNUMX minutes before the start of the meeting. When it's over, bow your head deeply and press the meeting end button. Do not leave before the customer." (Hiroko Nishide) "Textbook of Super Basic Telework Manners" Asa Publishing).

"Pressing the meeting end button while deeply bowing your head" may be the reason for the antipathy. In the first place, if you bow your head deeply, you will not be able to see where the ZOOM exit button is.

If we call what is accepted in society "manners", it is questionable whether "manners" were originally devised by manner instructors. I think it's interesting that we're moving in the direction of strengthening hierarchical relationships. There may be clues to think about the development of information technology and changes in people's lives and relationships.

Last year, ZOOM added a feature called “Custom Gallery View”.This is a function that allows you to change the order displayed on the screen, and because you can place your boss on top, it is commonly known as the "Kamiza function".Also, last year, it seems that Shachihata's electronic seal became able to "bow" (tilt the seal toward the boss).
