Kizuna Cafe "Carillon" has opened on the 2nd floor of Mizusaokan, Miki Campus.
The photo (right) shows the opening ceremony on Saturday, October 10th.
We shared the moment of the birth of "Carillon" with the local residents who came to our store, as well as the city and local Kizuna Cafe officials who came to support us.
By the way, do you know "Kizuna Cafe"? When you hear “dementia cafe”, I think that some people know it.
The origin of the "Dementia Café" is said to be the "Alzheimer's Café" in the Netherlands, an advanced welfare country, which started in 1997.In Japan, since it was first introduced in 2012 in the 5-Year Plan for the Promotion of Dementia Measures (Orange Plan), it has been proposed that people with dementia and their families share information with local people and experts, It has been popularized nationwide as a place to understand each other.
In the Kita-Harima area where our Miki campus is located, the Kato Health and Welfare Office of the Kita-Harima Prefectural Citizens Affairs Bureau promotes a “Symbiotic Dementia Café” featuring intergenerational interaction. , We are proceeding with the establishment of “Kizuna Cafe”.
"Carillon" is run jointly by faculty and students as a community activity of the Department of Nursing, Faculty of Health Sciences. When opening "Carillon", both teachers and students attended the "Dementia Supporter Training Course" (bottom left photo) and received an orange ring as a proof of being a dementia supporter (center photo). "Carillon" helped me deepen my understanding of dementia, and above all, I was able to hear the voices of people with dementia directly, which led to a great learning experience. The photo (lower right) shows a student who smiles with his eyes even when wearing a mask and enjoys conversation with an elderly person who visits the store. Through "Carillon", students are expected to grow as nursing professionals who "get close to people and look at them with their heart".

"Carillon" is named after the "Carillon Tower" which is the symbol of Miki Campus.
The carillon is said to be "a peace bell that carries happiness".We hope that many people will gather here at "Carillon", connect with each other, spread smiles, and be filled with happiness. Why don't you all ring the "peace bell that brings happiness" together in this "carillon"?
