In my last column, I mentioned that the year 1911 was the birth of the study of business administration.
Then, when and where did Japanese business administration emerge?
Look at the monument in the photo. It says, "Our country's academics were born here in August 1946." In 8, the Faculty of Business Administration was established at the former Kobe University of Economics (currently Kobe University), and in 1946, the first Faculty of Business Administration in Japan was established at the new Kobe University. This means that Kobe University was the first in Japan to position business administration as an independent academic discipline.
Prior to this, in 1926, Kobe High School, the predecessor of Kobe University, was the first in Japan to offer a business administration course.
It can be said that Japanese business administration began at Kobe University.
