[Tourism Department] Internship experience at Hotel New Awaji and Awaji Yumesenkei

The Department of Tourism offers various internships related to tourism, such as hotels and airports. These are the impressions of the students who participated in the two-week internship at Hotel New Awaji Awaji Yumesenkei, one of them.

Through this internship, I learned about the hotel, the relationship between the hotel and the local community, and how to behave in the hotel.

Through the experience, I strongly felt that the work is made possible by the cooperation and collaboration of people from various departments. Also, I realized that each person's demeanor and customer service are very important and a sense of responsibility is necessary.

I was in charge of a lot of experiences, such as work at a restaurant, near the front desk, and guest room assistance. In restaurants and near the front desk, it was necessary to stand like a hotel worker, and that alone was very difficult. In the room assistance, I was able to gain a lot of new experiences and learnings by knowing the flow of how the food at the hotel reaches the customers. Also, the people working here were kind enough to teach me various things, and it was a very fulfilling two weeks.

I would like to use the experience and knowledge I gained from this internship for my future job hunting activities and even where I find a job.

Through this internship, I learned not only work skills, but also communication skills between customers and employees, greetings and courtesy, and team strength unique to hotels.I would like to reconsider greetings, etiquette, manners, etc. from small points and make use of them in my future job hunting activities.

By participating in this internship, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge and experience.

On the first day of my internship, I was nervous because I was doing everything for the first time, and I was thinking, "What if I make a mistake?" "It's really early in the morning and it's exhausting," "I don't want to go home anymore," and so on.However, after that, I was able to gain experience in various departments, and little by little I began to find what I was doing to be rewarding.

The most impressive thing was that they said "thank you" when they carried the customer's luggage to the room.At that time, I was working while talking with the customer, but I felt very happy to be thanked directly like this.I felt that all the employees are thinking about how to make customers feel comfortable and how to make them leave with a smile.

This time, I thought that I was able to know the difficulty and difficulty of working, as well as the work content of the hotel.

Of all the things I learned this time, what I want to use the most in the future is how to interact with people and how to use words.Once again, I was able to know the importance of these things.

I had a two-week internship at Hotel New Awaji Yume Senkei.

The first half of the work was serving customers at the beach counter, and the second half was serving the BBQ and laying out the futons.

The main work at the beach counter was guiding the fishing ponds and processing the fish that were caught. At first, I was afraid to touch the fish I caught, and there were scenes where customers were worried. However, as I got used to it, I felt no resistance to touching the fish.It was a moment when I thought I was able to grow in a short period of time.

BBQ is a business content that brings drinks and BBQ materials to customers. We were only able to do it 3 times during the period due to continuous rain.During work, when I smelled Awaji beef being grilled, I was hungry and wanted to eat it as I worked.Once I got the job, I was able to do it by myself to some extent, and I think I was able to clean up faster.

The job of laying the futon was to actually enter the customer's room and lay the futon in front of them. The combination with the other person was extremely important because we spread the futon in a group of two people. For that reason, the people who lay out the futons are all on good terms, and I was able to enjoy working there.I'm very happy when customers say "You're fast!", which motivates me when I'm working.I had many jobs during my internship, but this job was the most fun and rewarding to do.

In the second week, I was able to do the entrance business. In the morning, I had to see off customers who were checking out and bring the trolley to the customer's room and take it to the front desk. When I waved them off, I had to raise my arm all the time, so there were many times when I was tired and it was hard to wave my hand. All the employees didn't seem to be in pain, so I continued to wave desperately.

In the afternoon, my job was to greet guests who were checking in and bring their luggage.Since it is not good to be silent while carrying luggage to the front desk, I guided the customer to the front desk while communicating with the customer. My communication skills improved a little. It was also a work content that felt the value of being thanked.

I was able to receive compliments from customers in this entrance service survey. This gave me confidence, and it became an event that I will never forget in my life.

Working at Hotel New Awaji Yumesenkei, I was able to learn how difficult and enjoyable it is to work at a hotel.I would like to do my best without wasting the experience of these two weeks because I can make use of it in my future job hunting.
