On October 3nd, we, the 10rd-year students of the Tourism Department, Koiso seminar, conducted fieldwork in Minamiawaji City, Hyogo Prefecture.
The purpose is to think and propose products that are closely related to Minamiawaji City to World One Co., Ltd., which operates a large number of community-based restaurants mainly in Sannomiya, Kobe City.
Our group visited Michi-no-Eki Uzushio, where you can see the whirlpools of Naruto up close from land, and interviewed Mr. Yuji Miyaji, the managing director. Sorry!).
During the interview, we asked questions about the concept of Roadside Station Uzushio, how they create original products, and popular menu items at restaurants located at Roadside Station Uzushio.
Through this fieldwork, I was able to know many good points of Minamiawaji City, but I was also able to discover some issues.That is, when considering products that are closely related to a region, it is necessary to have a thorough knowledge of all of the region, its strengths and weaknesses.
For example, onions have been able to appeal enough and have become famous nationwide.However, whirlpools also need further appeal as one of Minami-Awaji's "special products", and their recognition among inbound (foreign tourists) is low.Since last year, the number of inbound tourists has decreased sharply due to the corona crisis, but when overseas travel resumes, I hope that people from overseas will also know about the whirlpools, Minami Awaji, and the roadside station, which is full of specialty products. I wanted to have one.
