Towards a safe and secure society, our university considers "disaster prevention" education to be a basic education throughout the university, and offers a "disaster prevention specialist training course" for acquiring disaster prevention specialist qualifications. From 2021, in addition to the Miki Campus and Amagasaki Campus, the course will also be offered at the Kobe Yamate Campus.
At the Kobe Yamate Campus, a "Disaster Prevention Training Course" was held during the summer semester, attended by 55 students as well as educational and administrative staff to deepen their understanding of disaster prevention education.
In order to acquire a disaster prevention specialist qualification, it is essential to attend a lecture on the “Disaster Prevention Training Course” and confirm that it has reached the level, pass the disaster prevention specialist examination by the Japan Disaster Prevention Organization, and take a lifesaving course.
Since the lifesaving course requires practical skills, it could not be held during the summer semester when a state of emergency was declared in Hyogo Prefecture. Thanks to the cooperation of our alumni and current students, we were able to hold the event at the Kobe Yamate Campus in late October, when the various restrictions imposed in Hyogo Prefecture were lifted.
Although the course was held in the midst of many difficulties such as the spread of the new coronavirus infection, under sufficient measures against infectious diseases, a new student disaster prevention specialist was born from the Kobe Yamate Campus.
Students who attended the training course for disaster prevention specialists commented, "I realized once again that disasters are not someone else's problem, but are hidden in our immediate surroundings." I understand that it was.” There were comments such as.
The Disaster Prevention Specialist Training Course started in the fall semester of 2016, and from 2017 onwards, it is open to students in all faculties.
This course is offered as a "company cooperation course" with the cooperation of excellent companies in Hyogo Prefecture that have agreed to develop human resources that contribute to the creation of a safe and secure society.
