At our university, there is a subject called "Cultural Anthropology" that allows you to learn about the diversity of different cultures. This course is subject to credit transfer by the University Consortium Hyogo-Kobe, and can be taken by any student at any of the 33 universities in Hyogo Prefecture, not just our university.
Every year, in this class, we learn about the cultures of various countries and regions around the world, and we invite special guest speakers who are active globally to give very informative lectures. And we had a lot of wonderful guest speakers come again this year.
Mr. Shinya Hiraoka, the representative of Stapia Co., Ltd., came to the first special lecture this year as well. This person has the experience of traveling around the world many times during his student days in order to learn about the educational situation in the world.Based on his extensive experience, Mr. Hiraoka talked about the appeal of Finnish education, which has a high level of national happiness, and the importance of doing fieldwork.
While there are people who belong to international organizations such as the United Nations and JICA and work on a global scale, Mr. Hiraoka, from a grassroots perspective that is close to the educational scene, wants students and young professionals to have a better global experience. We are developing overseas training projects based in the Philippines, Finland and Hawaii.
Mr. Hiraoka is currently conducting online overseas training for students and young working adults, even though it is difficult to travel abroad due to the coronavirus. At our university, together with Ms. Hiraoka, we did a program in the Philippines last year, and a program in Finland this year.
Mr. Hiraoka's key words are to find an input that he likes (what he wants to carefully refine within himself), and to output (return) it to society in his own way.It would be great if I could create something creative and connect with society through what I like.
