Soka University Students Participate in “International Workshop” with Universities in Indonesia and Malaysia

University of Gadjah Mada (UGM, Indonesia), University of Utala Malaysia (UUM, Malaysia) and our university (KUISs) jointly held three study sessions "ACP International Workshop" on the theme of "Safety Management Beyond COVID-19". held.Each time, a total of three experts gave lectures (in English) for about 3 minutes on themes related to safety management based on the actual situation in Japan, Malaysia, and Indonesia.From our university, a total of 3 students from the Faculty of International Communication, Faculty of Business Administration, and Faculty of Education participated, and over 30 students each from UGM and UUM.

The theme of the first session held on December 2021, 12 is "Digital Transformation." The event began with an opening address by Atsushi Hamana, president of the university and chairman of the ACP consortium, followed by a lecture on "Human Resource Required in Digital Transformation (DX) Era" by Professor Shika Sho of the Faculty of Social Sciences.Students and participating faculty members asked questions and made comments, and a lively discussion took place.

The second event was held on January 2, 2022 with the theme of "Natural disasters under the new corona pandemic".From Japan, Masaaki Nakagawa, Director of the Asian Disaster Reduction Center, gave a lecture titled "Time for Change and Transformation: The Road to a Resilient Asia." After the presentations from the three countries, a three-way discussion was held among the three speakers on questions submitted using the Zoom chat function. I could hear the discussion.

The third and final session, held on January 2022, 1, was held under the theme of "Impact of COVID-25 on globalization."Professor Katsuhiko Okamura of the Faculty of Business Administration of this university analyzed the impact of the spread of the new coronavirus infection on the Japanese travel industry and the changes in the Japanese travel industry based on data "Changes in tourism due to COVID-3-Acceleration of change and transformation-”.There was a request from a student of our university, "I want to know about the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) efforts in Indonesia and Malaysia," and the instructors taught us about the efforts in each country. 

Participating students will create presentations based on what they have learned from these three sessions, including their own perspectives and recommendations, and present them at the "3rd ACP International Symposium" to be held on March 3st.I am looking forward to seeing what kind of presentations the students will make against the backdrop of their respective countries and cultures.
