Global Study II (Philippines/Winter 2021 Cebu) ~Disaster prevention/mitigation “What I can do”~
Like Japan, the Philippines is also one of the countries where natural disasters occur frequently.2021Years12A huge typhoon hit the Philippines in May and many precious lives were lost.In this program, we will focus on disaster education as a way to pass on the lessons learned from disasters, consider the lessons that should be passed on, and aim to exchange opinions on disaster prevention and mitigation with Filipino students.
First, we researched past natural disasters in Japan and deepened our understanding of Japan's "disaster prevention education."The visiting class has been postponed due to the extension of special measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.However, with the cooperation of the students, a mock class was held in the same way as the visiting class.
On March 3, we invited two Filipino teachers from the Faculty of Tourism, Faculty of International Communication, Kobe Yamate Campus, to give lectures on Philippine culture, history, tourism, natural disasters, and disaster prevention and mitigation efforts. .In the lecture, I heard that the evacuation drill at the Philippine elementary school was a disaster drill wearing a disaster prevention hood and a helmet, and that the school gymnasium was used as an evacuation center. I was.
In the future, we plan to exchange opinions remotely with students in Cebu, Philippines at the end of March about the current situation and issues regarding "disaster prevention and mitigation".
While researching natural disasters and disaster prevention education, which are common issues in both Japan and the Philippines, the program aims to understand the importance of "preparing" for natural disasters and to improve communication skills through English. We will promote.
