On Russia's invasion of Ukraine (Statement)

We express our deep concern at witnessing Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine. In response to the fact that civilian facilities were destroyed and many civilians, including children, were killed and injured by the invasion, which used military force to unilaterally change the status quo, which is not permitted under international law. , I would like to protest.

As an international university, Kansai University of International Studies has been interacting with partner universities in many countries, and has focused on education and research with the aim of nurturing students who understand diversity and can contribute to society themselves. "Safety and security" is one of the most basic human rights requirements for human beings. The barbarity of war has claimed many lives and forced more than 150 million people to flee to other countries. We must never accept that the status quo will be changed by force.

I express my sincere sympathy and support to the people of Ukraine who are in crisis. From now on, I would like to think about the support that we can do and work to implement it.

I pray that the fighting will end as soon as possible and peace will be restored to Ukraine.
