On July 2022th, 7 (Saturday), a public seminar was held at the Kobe Yamate Campus to commemorate the establishment of the Well-being Research Institute.A total of 9 people, including researchers from various fields and students from our university, were able to participate.
At the beginning of the event, President Atsushi Hamana of Osaka University gave a speech, followed by a presentation on the purpose and future prospects of the establishment of the Well-being Research Institute of Osaka University. He held a keynote speech titled "The Possibilities of 'School Power' Overcoming Educational Disparities".Based on your own research results, such as actual sample data and examples of educational disparities in Osaka, you will present the correlation between academic ability and well-being on what to do to overcome disparities. Next, Mr. Shun Shirai of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology gave a special lecture entitled "Thinking about Schools from the Perspective of Well-being." We received an explanation and proposal about the movement in the school, and well-being as the ultimate goal of education (= school).
After the lecture, a four-person panel discussion was held with Yoshifumi Soda, Director of the Well-being Research Institute, and the two lecturers and Shingo Ashizawa, Vice President of the University (Professor of the Faculty of International Communication).With the themes of "well-being," "education," and "society" from every angle, the panelists and attendees actively exchanged opinions and shared information.
