On August 8th, a workshop titled "Towards Fair Approval of Microcredentials in the Asia-Pacific Region" was held at the KUIS Hall, Kansai University of International Studies, Amagasaki Campus, with 24 participants and over 301 ZOOM participants. It was held by gathering people.
Microcredentials are a word that expresses a small amount of academic history in contrast to the conventional macro degree system, and are an effective way to record online educational achievements while face-to-face classes are difficult due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection. It is an attempt that is attracting attention all over the world as a means of supporting and developing various forms of learning.
After greetings from Eiji Watanabe, Chief Inspector of the Higher Education Bureau of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Atsushi Hamana, President of Kansai University of International Studies, the workshop began with an explanation of the purpose of the workshop by Shingo Ashizawa, Vice President of Kansai University of International Studies and Professor of the Faculty of International Communication. .
There was a report on the survey on microcredentials conducted in 2021 from the standpoint of OECD and UNESCO, followed by a report on the current situation and problems in Australia, Malaysia, and Japan, as well as future prospects.
In the afternoon, after a meal break, participants were divided into two groups to discuss (2) precedent cases from Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, and (XNUMX) case studies from the Asia-Pacific region. Active and useful discussions and exchanges of information were held to ensure quality and enhance international applicability.
