[Department of Nursing] What happened during gerontological nursing practice

I was in charge of an elderly woman suffering from dementia who required bed rest immediately after surgery for a fracture. From the first day of the practical training, they would close their eyes and turn away when trying to listen to what was being said, try to turn the table upside down when trying to serve food, and yell "no" when trying to change positions. The student's eyes were filled with tears.

The student walked back and forth between the nurse's station and the hospital room with a worried look on his face. I entered the hospital room with "Good morning" and on the bedPlastic surgerydecided to do

The elderly woman looked at herself in the mirror and wiped her face with a smile, saying, "I'm covered in wrinkles."

In one study, it is said that making up and grooming the elderly makes them happy, and that chatting with people around them leads to confidence in communication.

The care that the students devised on their own not only improved the relationship with the patient, but also increased their self-esteem as a woman and gave them an opportunity to feel "happiness."

Also, through this experience, teachers and students were able to feel "happiness", and it was a moment of happiness for nurses.
