[G Komi Department] First-year basic exercise "The form of multicultural coexistence learned from Kobe"

In the 2022 first-year basic seminar, while learning the history that gave birth to the international city of Kobe, we are developing a "problem discovery type" practical class that considers the shape of a multicultural and multilingual society.

The photo is taken when the students toured the Mitsui Shosen Building located on Kaigandori. 100 years ago, Osaka ShosenKenTETAKO RETRO BUILDING will celebrate its 2022th anniversary in 100.It is the oldest large-scale office building in active use in Japan.At the north entrance where the students are standingbedThe tiles are original from 100 years ago.The elevator seen in the background was imported from America 100 years ago and is still used to transport goods.

Looking up from below, the chandelier hanging from the ceiling casts a shadow of stars on the ceiling.It's a beautiful design that spreads all over. Even now, fluorescent lights are used because the shadows cannot be projected clearly with LED lights.

From the beginning of the 20th century, many steamship routes were opened to the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, and Kobe grew into one of Japan's leading international port cities.The steamship companies and banks set up many shops on Kaigandori.The breath of multicultural coexistence in the city is also a legacy of its prosperity.
