"A big earthquake happened when I was alone. What should I do then?"4We worked on disaster prevention and mitigation learning with first grade children.

The Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake struck at 5:46 in the morning. The Tohoku Region Pacific Ocean Earthquake (Great East Japan Earthquake) occurred at 14:XNUMX.46minute.This is the time period when parents and teachers are near the child. The development of teaching materials began with the question of what students should do if an earthquake occurs when a child is alone.

This time, the class was developed based on the video that the students independently produced under the theme of "Earthquake Simulation".Every video is a realistic performance of the students.

The first is "Toilet". I made the children think about what they would do if a big earthquake happened while they were in the bathroom at school.

  • run away outside
  • shut the door and stay
  • open the door and stay

Choose from three options. The children said, ``We have to run away quickly and go where there are adults.'' ``It would be terrible if the door deformed and we were trapped.'' There was a lively exchange of opinions.

Next, "An answering machine edition alone".What to do after a big earthquake

  • stay home.
  • Get help from neighbors.
  • Head to Hinanjo.

Opinions such as "If I leave home, I might not be able to see my family. I'm worried." came out.

From the children's retrospective
  • What I learned from studying today is what to do in the event of an actual earthquake. I thought I should prepare for the Nankai Trough earthquake that is said to come in the future.
  • When I was alone, I wanted to be able to act on my own in the event of an earthquake. Also, I wanted to prepare an emergency backpack.I would like to check the evacuation route.
  • After studying today, I decided to decide where to meet with my family members in the event of an earthquake or disaster, and where to go in the event of a disaster.I learned that when a disaster strikes, decisions can change depending on the situation.

Thanks to the warm support of the teachers at Ushio Elementary School and the deep thinking of the children, the students were satisfied with the lessons.Thank you to all the children and teachers at Ushio Elementary School.
