Global Study I (Xian, China/Winter 2022) Activity Report

An online global study was conducted on the theme of the Japanese language department of the Xi'an Institute of Foreign Affairs in the ancient city of Xi'an, one of China's leading tourist destinations, as well as tourism culture and cultural heritage.

The students conducted a one-day research fieldwork in Kyoto led by Prof. Shimizu and Prof. Liu.We visited Sennyu-ji Temple, Tofukuji Temple, and Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto.

Tofukuji Temple, with its beautiful autumn leaves, and Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, with its impressive XNUMX torii gates, are both very famous, but this was my first visit to Sennyu-ji Temple.Sennyu-ji Temple is a rare temple where Yang Guifei, a beautiful woman from the Tang Dynasty of China, is enshrined.I also ate Xi'an cuisine so that I could experience Chinese culture more.

On the day of the exchange meeting, students from the Xi'an College of Foreign Affairs and our university researched the tourism culture and cultural heritage of their respective countries and gave online presentations in Japanese. The students from both countries were able to give concrete explanations from a global perspective that would allow them to compare and analyze the tourism and traditional cultures of Japan and China. After the presentation, we asked each other questions and had a lively exchange.
