Jiwon Park, an international student at our university (from South Korea, currently studying in the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Sociology) has been certified as a scholarship student of the HUMAP International Student Exchange Promotion System.

Reason and purpose of study abroad

My name is Park Jiwon, and I majored in embedded software at Busan University of Foreign Studies.

The reason why I decided to study abroad in Japan started from various experiences in Japan and my thoughts on the future.i am university1I went to Japan when I was a sophomoreITI got a training opportunity. At that time, I was not very interested in Japan, but after visiting Japanese universities and major companies, I became fascinated by the technology and educational environment of Japan. After that, I wanted to know more about Japan, so I traveled many times and went to Japan.1I also went on an annual working holiday. After returning to Korea, when I thought about my future, I decided that I wanted to study Japanese and my major in Japan, which is also a major market for embedded software, and acquire advanced knowledge and technology. .At that time, by coincidence, I learned that the Busan University of Foreign Studies, where I am enrolled, allows students with Japanese language proficiency to study abroad in Japan. Also, rather than studying about Japan in South Korea, I thought that the best option would be to actively take advantage of opportunities to learn about the major, Japanese language, and Japanese culture at a local university in Japan. .After that, I decided to study abroad as an exchange student and chose Kansai University of International Studies, which has a data science course that is closely related to my major, and went to Japan as an exchange student.I am looking forward to new knowledge and new encounters through studying in Japan.

Experience while studying abroad

First of all, Korean universities and Japanese universities are educational institutions with the same name of university, but due to differences in countries or cultures, the places where classes are taken are the same, but there are many minor differences. I realized thatFor example, course registration in Korea is on a first-come, first-served basis, so there was fierce competition in Japan.

It was characteristic that I looked back on the class every time, and there was a difference in checking whether I understood the class.Normally, in my country, I don't check every time and look back only at the time of tests or at my own will. However, here I will submit a review sheet immediately after the class. This is not only for students to reconsider the contents of the class, but also for educators to easily grasp the ability of students and to conduct classes considering the level of academic ability of each individual. I thought that was it.

In addition, I am experiencing various aspects of daily life in Japan that I would not have understood unless I stayed in Japan. In particular, the dormitory provided by Kansai University of International Studies is not an ordinary dormitory but a municipal housing, so it was great to be able to experience the scenery and daily life that you would see in a Japanese anime or drama.

I have half a year left of my study abroad period. In order not to waste my time, I would like to do my best to make good memories while having many new experiences, and to acquire knowledge and improvements from the Japanese educational environment.
