In tourism department, we are working on tourism area activation in cooperation with Minami-Awaji City Hall and local tourism business operators. The other day, Associate Professor Takanezawa visited Minami-Awaji City with the students and conducted a regional resource survey to create a tourism experience program.
The first place we interviewed was the outdoor facility "Bonfire BASE ~HOKAGE~Mr. Takemasa who runs ".Mr. Takemasa, who immigrated from Tokyo, was attracted by the charm of Minami-Awaji City, and a few years ago he manually maintained the site of a former seafood processing factory and set up a campsite that combines the sea, the sunset, and a bonfire. In addition, we are working to connect the region and the outside by disseminating the charm of the region on the Internet and becoming a consultation desk for immigration. Also, in the facility, a new immigrant from Tamba Sasayama City was preparing to open a microbrewery, and it was full of energy to tackle new businesses.
The students, who visited the area for the first time this time, received an explanation of the local situation and facilities from Mr. Takemasa, and then exchanged opinions on ideas for new experiences that make use of local resources. In addition to the coastline that stretches out in front of the facility and the mountains behind it, there are various resources around the facility, such as rafts for aquaculture and scaffolding for sea fishing.
From the afternoon "Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum” and manages the facility ”Uzunokuni Co., Ltd.” about the tourism situation and challenges after Corona. On this day, not only the famous Instagram spot "#Oh onion", but also products full of unique ideas and designs, such as Awajishima burgers and onion catchers that make use of the specialty onions, milk bread on the hill of Awajishima Dairy Products. Many tourists visited the facility.
