The 43rd installment of the Kobe Shimbun Mikiban "Academic Exploration: Introductory Lectures at Kansai International University" series is "'Sports' as the Power to Solve Social Issues" by Professor Akira Takami, who specializes in sports sociology and outdoor education.
Professor Akira Takami also sees and hears cases in which sports volunteers play an active role in providing physical and mental care for children at evacuation centers and schools.Furthermore, it was introduced that the power of sports is spreading beyond grounds and courts, such as local sports clubs tackling poverty issues in the region.He also said that he would like to reiterate that sports have great potential for solving social issues in local communities.
