Hi. My name is Akane. It's my pleasure to share with you my Global Research experience in the Philippines. Let me start with my first week.
9/2 Arrival day 9/3 I went to the shopping mall near my dorm in Quezon City. 9/4 We were invited to the orientation, where ate Filipino food for the first time. 9/5 We had dinner with the UP freshmen 9/6 I applied for the student visa. 9/7~8 I went shopping with my roommates, and some UP students. 9/9~10 I met with seniors on campus.
I have made many friends, because Filipinos are so hospitable. In addition, they are so kind. However, I found it difficult that I couldn't express myself in English to someone on the 1st week. When I talked with them, I paused for a while that made them wait. But, I think they understood. Oh, the students at the dormitory speak English very well, so I felt bad because I wasn't able to speak the language fluently with them. I will be here for another for months, so I will do my best.
