 We held a report session on the ``Exchange Program with Students in the Turkey Earthquake Affected Areas,'' which was implemented using Hyogo Prefecture's ``Turkey Earthquake Recovery and Reconstruction Support Project.''4Month22The event was held on Sunday (Monday) at the Hyogo Prefecture Disaster Management Center for Hyogo Prefecture disaster prevention supervisors and other Hyogo Prefecture stakeholders.

 

 Japan and Turkey have a long history of friendship, with each country helping and supporting each other during numerous major disasters. Students attending our university and other universities in Hyogo Prefecture, which were affected by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, have conducted multiple street fundraising activities as a concrete support activity for the affected areas immediately after the earthquake occurred in Turkey. did. All of the money raised through the fundraiser was handed over by Hyogo Prefecture through the Saturday and Sunday Fund as scholarships to Turkish university students affected by the disaster.

Turkish university student was able to continue his studies thanks to donations(Middle East Technical University in Ankara)As part of our exchange program, we created disaster prevention education materials for elementary school students in the disaster-stricken areas, and provided the materials we had created to school teachers in the disaster-stricken areas. In addition to providing educational materials, we also held cultural exchange events at elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools with the aim of providing psychological care for children.

 

 At the debriefing session, after the students who participated in the exchange program reported on their activities in the field, they said, ``There were times when I felt that people were interested in disaster prevention and mitigation efforts through the exchange with us.'' I was very happy. I would like to continue my activities to spread disaster prevention and mitigation efforts to as many people as possible, using what I learned and felt in Turkey.''

 

 After receiving the reports from the students, Emin Ozdamar, vice president of the Saturday-Sunday Foundation, who participated via remote system, said, ``In addition to conducting fundraising activities for the disaster-stricken areas in Turkey, We are very grateful for your involvement in providing emotional care to children.''

 

 Lastly, Hyogo Prefecture's Disaster Prevention Superintendent Yoriaki Ikeda addressed the students, saying, ``The young people who will be responsible for the future were able to gain a lot of experience by sharing the experiences and lessons learned from earthquakes, including the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.'' I think it was a very valuable and valuable activity to pass on to the next generation.By utilizing the experience I gained from this activity, I was able to deepen my knowledge and awareness of disaster prevention by viewing the earthquake as my own.
