Global Study (Global Expansion Capability: Los Angeles Crime Prevention, USA) “Learn about security issues and crime prevention”

Our partner school, College of the Canyons University (COC) will visit various locations in Los Angeles from a crime prevention perspective.10We conducted a one-day learning program, and I would like to introduce some of its contents.
After arriving in Los Angeles,COCA welcome party was held, and the next day, in a welcoming atmosphere,COCI attended a lecture on criminal investigation with students from the same school. During the lectures, students interacted through group work, and the students quickly became acquainted, talking about music and movies with their smartphones in hand.
In Los Angeles, store robberies are shown on the TV news every morning, and with the legalization of marijuana, tourist destinations such as Santa Monica and Hollywood sometimes smell marijuana, something you don't smell in Japan. . Cannabis stores were also dotted around, and cannabis was openly sold in aroma shop-like stores. (Of course, none of us have purchased or used it.)
Police-related facilities visited included the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Office, Pasadena Police Department, and the police academy. In addition to police cars and helicopters, there are evidence warehouses and detention facilities that cannot be visited in Japan.VRWe also had a special look at target practice using a.
In the Little Tokyo area, they witnessed the adjoining area called Skid Row, where there are many homeless people, and heard from a church pastor who is providing support activities and a Japanese sweets shop owner who is working on crime prevention at the private Little Tokyo police box. , racial issues were involved, opinions were divided between those who wanted to protect the homeless and those who wanted to eliminate them, and some people had antipathy towards the police, making me realize how difficult crime prevention activities are.
This study program will not only encourage the students' personal growth, but will also provide them with an opportunity to broaden their international perspective, and they will definitely utilize this valuable experience in the future.
