The Founding Anniversary Symposium is held as part of the school's education, mainly for first-year students, to learn about the school's founding spirit, history, social role, etc. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the corporation's founding, and we invited Yosuke Watanabe, former New York bureau chief of Kyodo News, and Dai Miyawaki of Grapher Co., Ltd. to hold the symposium on the theme of "How will the world change with globalization and generative AI?"

After an opening address by President Atsushi Hamana, a video entitled "The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Hamana Yamate Gakuin School Corporation" was screened, which explained the school's founding spirit, history, and educational philosophy.

Next, Yosuke Watanabe gave a lecture titled "What is Globalization?" in which he explained globalization using familiar examples from everyday life such as clothing, music, and entertainment, and touched on the fact that the influence of information technology, especially the Internet, has brought great benefits to our lives. He also explained the dark side of information technology, such as fake news and strengthened control, and stressed the need for each person to develop their own judgment, including self-defense.

Miyawaki Dai said, "There is an opportunity to turn everyday commonplaces into doubts," and explained the rapid progress and development of generative AI and its future prospects, again introducing specific examples such as the creation of photos, videos, and text. Rather than giving up and saying, "I can't do this," he gave advice such as, "What should I do? What can I do?"

Mr. Nguyen Van Duy

Nguyen Van Duy (4th year, Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business Administration)

I want to be a bridge between Japan and Vietnam. Our university has a multicultural atmosphere and is connected to the world, which is a great thing. I hope all first-year students have more opportunities to interact with international students and Japanese people and have fun.

I want to support as many families as possible and make Japan a place where children can live happily. At our school, you can get close to your teachers and ask them about anything, and they give you the opportunity to try new things, so you can have a variety of experiences. During your four years as a student, please do everything you can to do what you can.
