9Month29On Sunday, the Miki City "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training" and "Disaster Prevention Festival" were held at Mikiyama General Park, and members of our university, mainly students taking the internship and service learning course "Regional Disaster Prevention and Mutual Aid", participated.
Miki City holds a Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training and Disaster Prevention Festival every year with the aim of contributing to creating a safe city free from disasters by raising fire and disaster prevention awareness and improving disaster prevention techniques.
From our university, which has a campus in Miki City and makes safety management education one of the pillars of its learning, a student who participated in an internship at the Miki Fire Station took part in the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training," while a student taking a service learning course on "Community Disaster Prevention and Mutual Aid" participated in the "Disaster Prevention Festival."
Reiwa6In the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training" held this year, training was conducted based on the assumption that heavy rains caused by a typhoon would cause storm damage such as flooding of rivers, and students played the role of victims needing rescue and participated in transportation training and triage training by doctors. In addition, students worked with general participants to assemble manhole toilets to be used in evacuation shelters in the event of a disaster.
At the Disaster Prevention Festival, we set up booths with ideas to pique people's interest, such as "introductions to products that will be useful in a disaster," "disaster-related quizzes," and "experience cardiopulmonary resuscitation using an app," with the aim of conveying knowledge that will be useful in the event of a disaster.
Thanks to the good weather, both the "Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Training" and the "Disaster Prevention Festival" were well attended, and it was a valuable experience for the students who participated in the event to put into practice what they had learned at university outside of school. We hope that the realizations they gained from participating in this event will be useful in their future studies at university.
